Volunteers If you are seeking to serve in a "volunteer capacity" you are urged to go to: resource directory and select an agency you desire.

In the event of a disaster and there may be special short/term services and/or skills needed not provided by existing volunteer agencies. In such an event, the COAD will provide information at this web site by "flashing" link.

Volunteers, then are to report at that location where they will be screened, given orientation and safety briefings before proceeding to the disaster location. In the event of a disaster Emergency management officials will not allow non-credentialed volunteers into a disaster area.

UNAFFILIATED VOLUNTEER RECEPTION CENTER: A volunteer reception center may be established in the event of a "major disaster". This Center will be staffed by several voluntary/faith based organizations which have been trained to operate such a Center. An annual simulation of a VRC is conducted by the Voluntary Agency Task Force for the VRC. Volunteers interested in serving the Voluntary Reception Center may contact either the Red Cross/Salvation Army for more information.
